From Micro Teams to Mega Races: What We’ve Been Up To

At Tailored Team Building and Corporate Amazing Race, things have been anything but quiet lately. In fact, it’s been flat out in the best possible way, with our team delivering high-energy team building activities and corporate Amazing Race events right across the country. From Sydney to Melbourne, and Brisbane through to Hobart, we’ve been designing custom race routes, rolling out brand new challenges, and keeping teams on their toes with fun, fast-paced group activities. There’s been plenty of travel, a few late nights prepping envelopes, and a whole lot of laughs along the way, which is exactly how team building in Australia should be.

The Biggest Yet: Sydney’s Mega Amazing Race

Let’s start with the big one. Our latest standout event was a massive Sydney Amazing Race with 330 students and teachers racing through The Rocks. We tailored the entire experience to suit school groups, building in interactive challenges, team-based strategy, and plenty of movement through the CBD to keep the energy high from start to finish.

To make things even more interesting, the day happened to line up with multiple union strikes across the city. So when 330 participants suddenly poured into a park for one of the checkpoints, it understandably caught some attention. Police arrived to see what was going on, but after a quick chat and a few laughs, they stuck around to watch the action unfold and even helped judge the opening challenge. It turned into one of those classic, unexpected moments that makes a Sydney team building event truly memorable.

The Smallest: Tiny Teams, Big Rivalries

On the other end of the scale, not every event needs big numbers to deliver big impact. We’ve recently hosted Melbourne team building activities for groups as small as four to six participants, and somehow those smaller teams often bring the fiercest competition. With just two teams going head-to-head, every decision matters more, every challenge feels higher stakes, and there’s nowhere to hide if things go wrong.

Our smallest Amazing Race ever was just two people, and yes, it was just as competitive as you’d expect. It’s proof that team bonding activities don’t need large groups to work. In fact, smaller team building events often create stronger engagement, quicker decision-making, and a whole lot of banter along the way.

The Furthest: Across Cities, States, and Screens

Of course, some teams prefer to go bigger, and we’ve delivered plenty of corporate Amazing Race events that span entire cities. Teams navigate public transport, cross harbours and rivers, and make real-time decisions on the fastest way to reach each checkpoint, whether that’s jumping on a ferry, catching a train, or taking a risk on a shortcut. With Opal cards in Sydney and Myki cards in Melbourne, strategy becomes just as important as speed.

Then there are the multi-city events, which take things to another level entirely. One recent brief had us designing simultaneous Amazing Races across three different locations, all running at the same time with identical challenges and distances. We connected teams through live puzzle checkpoints using video calls, creating a shared experience even across different cities. It felt like a true “Great Race Australia” moment and showed just how powerful team building can be, even when your teams aren’t in the same place.

Gearing Up for the End of Year Rush

Looking ahead, things aren’t slowing down anytime soon. The calendar is quickly filling with Brisbane team building activities, Hunter Valley team bonding events, Gold Coast group activities, Canberra corporate races, and more Melbourne Amazing Race bookings, alongside team building events in Hobart and Newcastle.

Wherever your team is based, whether it’s in the CBD, at a conference venue, or somewhere a little more regional, we bring the same high-energy, fully hosted experience. Every event is tailored, every challenge is designed to engage, and every team walks away having actually connected, not just ticked a box.

So… Where Are You Racing Next?

Whether you’re planning a Sydney team building event, a Melbourne Amazing Race, or a multi-city corporate team building experience across Australia, we’re ready to make it happen. Big teams, small teams, competitive teams, or teams that just want to have a laugh, we’ve seen it all and we know how to bring it together.

So the real question is… where do you want to race next?
