100 People, 24 Teams and One Epic Game Show in Taumarunui

Who says you need to run around a city to have an unforgettable team building event?

We recently travelled to Taumarunui, New Zealand, where The Lines Company brought together over 100 staff for an afternoon of laughs, friendly competition and plenty of unforgettable moments. With 24 teams ready to battle it out, the room was buzzing before we even played the first game.

Our mission? Deliver one of our favourite fun indoor team building events that would get everyone involved, no matter how competitive (or uncompetitive!) they claimed to be.

The Competition Started Before the First Question

It didn’t take long for the competitive streaks to appear.

We kicked things off with Heads & Tails, a deceptively simple game that quickly proved nobody should trust their instincts. Every round eliminated more players until only a handful remained, while the rest of the room cheered, laughed and questioned every decision they’d just made.

From there, the energy only grew.

Family Feud Never Disappoints

If there’s one game that always delivers, it’s Family Feud.

Teams confidently wrote down answers they were absolutely certain would make the board. Sometimes they nailed it. Other times… not so much.

As always, the best part wasn’t necessarily getting the right answer, it was hearing the wildly creative guesses that somehow made perfect sense in the moment. The banter between tables kept the laughs coming, and before long, every team had something to celebrate… or defend.

The Price Is Right… According to 24 Different Teams

Next up came The Price Is Right, where everyone suddenly became an expert at guessing the value of the world’s most random collection of items.

Some teams missed by only a few dollars, while others weren’t even remotely close. Every reveal sparked cheers from one side of the room and playful groans from another, making the leaderboard tighter with every round.

Face the Cookie Was Pure Chaos

Then came everyone’s favourite physical challenge…Face the Cookie.

Watching adults attempt to wriggle a cookie from their forehead to their mouth without using their hands never gets old. Some contestants mastered the technique almost immediately, while others accidentally launched cookies across the room instead.

Needless to say, there were plenty of laughs, a few impressive cookie saves and more than enough photo-worthy moments.

Have You Been Paying Attention?

To finish the afternoon, we tested everyone’s memory with Have You Been Paying Attention?

The questions had teams second-guessing themselves, debating answers and discovering that perhaps they hadn’t been paying quite as much attention as they thought. It made for the perfect finale, with the leaderboard still close enough that every point counted.

Great Team Bonding Doesn’t Need Fancy Equipment

One of the highlights of the day was watching 24 teams back each other through every challenge. The cheers became louder as the afternoon went on, the friendly sledging became more creative and even the quieter team members found themselves caught up in the excitement.

By the time we crowned our champions, the room had shared hundreds of laughs, celebrated countless victories and created plenty of stories that will no doubt keep resurfacing around the office for months to come.
