The Masterpieces Survived. The Bridges... Not So Much
Who knew a pile of LEGO® bricks could spark so much creativity… and so much friendly rivalry?
We recently headed to Wellington to host a Brick Masters event for a fantastic group of 80 people. Split into 10 teams, everyone quickly swapped their day jobs for life as architects, engineers and storytellers as the room filled with colourful bricks, big ideas and even bigger ambitions.
From the moment the first brick snapped into place, the competition was on.
Every Team Had a Story to Tell
One of the things we love most about Brick Masters that every build tells a different story.
Some teams carefully planned every detail before placing a single brick, while others jumped straight in and trusted the creative process. As the masterpieces started taking shape, it became clear that this group wasn’t holding back.
We saw an impressive recreation of the Titanic, complete with a clever company-inspired twist. Another team tackled the classic tale of David and Goliath, while others brought helicopters, Jaws, and plenty of other imaginative creations to life.
Every presentation brought something completely different, and hearing the stories behind each build was just as entertaining as seeing the finished masterpieces.
Creativity Meets Competition
While the creativity was impressive, the competitive spirit was impossible to ignore.
Every team wanted to impress the judges, earn valuable points and claim the title of Wellington’s Brick Masters champions. As the afternoon rolled on, the room filled with plenty of laughs, playful banter and the occasional debate over whether one team’s masterpiece deserved a few extra points.
That’s exactly what makes indoor team building so much fun. People naturally start working together, sharing ideas and building on each other’s strengths without even realising it.
The Bridges Faced the Ultimate Test
Of course, no Brick Masters event would be complete without our famous bridge challenge.
Each team designed and constructed a bridge they believed could withstand the ultimate test. There was plenty of confidence as the judges prepared to put each creation under pressure.
Unfortunately… confidence doesn’t always equal structural integrity.
Let’s just say there weren’t too many bridges left standing by the end of the challenge. Some lasted a little longer than others, but eventually gravity claimed almost all of them, much to the delight of everyone watching.
The spectacular collapses probably received just as much applause as the successful builds.
Team Bonding, One Brick at a Time
One of our favourite moments was watching every table settle into their own rhythm.
Some teams nominated master builders, others appointed storytellers, and a few simply embraced organised chaos. Before long, every table buzzed with conversation, ideas and laughter as colleagues worked together towards a common goal.
That’s why Brick Masters continues to be one of our favourite fun indoor team building event ideas. It encourages creativity, communication and collaboration, while giving every team the chance to showcase their personality.
Team Building in Wellington That Everyone Enjoys
This event proved that team building in Wellington doesn’t need obstacle courses or outdoor adventures to make an impact.
With 80 people, 10 teams and countless creative ideas, the afternoon delivered everything you’d want from a great indoor team building experience. It was fun, inclusive and packed with moments that had everyone laughing together.
