Morrinsville’s Amazing Race Became an Epic Game Show Showdown!

Sometimes the best team building events aren’t the ones you plan.

We arrived in Morrinsville, New Zealand, ready to launch one of our signature Amazing Race events. Every checkpoint was mapped, every clue was printed and our hosts couldn’t wait to send the teams out on their adventure. Then the skies opened up. Not a quick shower either, we’re talking proper Waikato rain that wasn’t going anywhere.

Rather than sending everyone out to battle the weather, we gathered with the client, made a quick decision and completely changed gears. Within minutes we packed away the race packs, rolled out the pens & paper and transformed the event into one of our favourite Game Show Team Building experiences. 

Family Feud Kicked Things Off

The moment the first Family Feud question appeared on the screen, the room came alive. Teams shouted answers over one another, celebrated every correct response and passionately argued over the ones that didn’t make the board. Some answers were surprisingly clever, while others were so wildly inappropriate that they had the entire room in stitches. Thankfully, everyone shared the same sense of humour, making it one of those events where the laughter never really stopped.

The Price Is Right… Or Was It?

Next up came The Price Is Right, where confidence was definitely higher than accuracy. Teams confidently guessed the value of a collection of random items, convinced they had the perfect answer. Some guesses landed incredibly close, while others weren’t even in the same postcode. Every reveal brought cheers from one table and groans from another, adding plenty of friendly rivalry to the afternoon.

Minute to Win It Had Everyone Cheering

We kept the momentum rolling with a series of Minute to Win It challenges, proving once again that the simplest games often become the hardest under pressure. Cookies refused to stay balanced, cups toppled over at the worst possible moment and simple tasks suddenly became incredibly difficult as the countdown clock ticked away.

Between the main games, we mixed in bonus challenges and surprise opportunities to earn extra points. The leaderboard changed constantly throughout the afternoon, keeping every team in the hunt right until the final challenge. Every point mattered, and nobody could relax for long.

Plenty of Banter, Plenty of Team Bonding

One of our favourite parts of the day was watching the teams settle into the competition. The friendly banter started almost immediately, teammates backed each other through every challenge and even the quieter personalities found themselves getting involved. Before long, every table was cheering, laughing and giving each other plenty of stick whenever someone produced a spectacularly wrong answer.

By the end of the event, nobody mentioned the rain outside. Instead, everyone talked about the Family Feud answers they couldn’t believe, debated who should have won The Price Is Right and laughed about the Minute to Win It challenges that looked far easier than they actually were. That’s exactly what great team bonding should look like.
