The Dream Job (That Doesn’t Feel Like One)
I have the dream job.
No, not a swashbuckling space cowboy… something better. I’m part of the Tailored Team Building crew, and that means every day brings something new. It’s a mix of excitement, variety, and just the right amount of chaos. One day I’m running high-energy team building activities, the next I’m setting up puzzles, hosting challenges, and helping teams bring out their competitive side.
There’s never a dull moment. I get to use everything, from fitness and problem-solving to customer service and a love of the outdoors, all while exploring this incredible country. And the best part? Watching teams come together. Seeing friendships build, teamwork grow, and confidence lift right in front of you. It’s addictive. You finish the day still smiling, knowing your group just had an unforgettable experience.
Over the past year, I’ve hosted everything from Spy Races to Brick Masters and Corporate Olympics. But if I’m honest, my favourites are Survivor and the Corporate Amazing Race. I’ll admit I’m a little biased, they’re my favourite shows. There’s nothing quite like standing at a checkpoint, channelling my inner Phil Keoghan or Beau Ryan, and calling out “You are the first team to arrive!” as teams sprint toward the finish. It feels surreal bringing these world-famous concepts to life through real team building events, and even better seeing that spark hit the teams as they get fully involved.
Being born and raised in Sydney, I’ll admit I took it for granted. I’ve travelled overseas and explored every corner of new destinations, yet somehow overlooked what was right in front of me. Now, I get to work in some of the most incredible spots around the city, from parks and gardens to harbour views and hidden CBD locations. Places I barely noticed before are now some of my favourites.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without the team. Every event means working alongside people who bring energy, creativity, and support to everything they do. We all share the same goal, create a fun, memorable experience for every group we host. And because everyone genuinely loves what they do, that energy carries through to the teams we work with.
Looking back, I don’t think I can even call this a job. Jobs can feel repetitive. They can feel routine. This doesn’t.
This feels like an experience. A fast-paced, high-energy, genuinely fun experience that I just happen to get paid for.
