Build-A-Bike Challenge

The Fun Facts

Building Bikes, Building Teams, Changing Lives.

Looking for team building for charity that’s fun, rewarding and makes a real difference? Our Build-A-Bike Challenge brings together teamwork, communication and problem-solving for one seriously feel-good event. Better still, your team will build brand-new bikes for children who need them most.

Delivered in partnership with 99 Bikes, this experience takes traditional team building and gives it a whole new purpose. Your team will laugh, compete and work together. However, this time, there’s something much more meaningful waiting at the finish line.

If you’re searching for team building that gives back, this is an experience your team won’t forget.

What It’s All About

Forget building towers or solving puzzles just for points. In the Build-A-Bike Challenge, every nut, bolt and wheel contributes to something bigger.

Teams work together to transform a collection of parts into a brand-new bicycle. Of course, we don’t make it quite that easy!

Along the way, teams tackle fun challenges, solve problems and work against the clock. They may also need to earn components or complete bonus tasks before moving forward.

Communication is key. Teams need to plan their approach, share the workload and make sure everything comes together correctly.

Finally, the room fills with completed bikes ready for donation. It’s a pretty special way to finish a team building event.

How It Works

We kick things off with one of our professional hosts, who introduces the challenge and gets everyone ready to build.

First, we divide your group into teams and explain how the event works. Then, it’s time to get started.

Teams receive the tools, parts and instructions they need to complete their bike. From there, they’ll need to communicate, delegate and problem-solve their way through the build.

However, it’s not simply a case of putting a bike together.

We can add bonus challenges, company trivia, mystery components and timed tasks throughout the event. We can also weave in your branding, conference theme or company values.

Once the bikes are complete, our qualified partners carry out a final safety inspection. After that, the bikes are prepared for donation.

Why Teams Love It

The Build-A-Bike Challenge is more than another corporate activity. It gives your team a shared goal with a genuine purpose behind it.

Throughout the event, teams naturally practise communication, collaboration and leadership. At the same time, everyone has a chance to contribute.

You don’t need to know anything about bikes either. There are plenty of different roles, tasks and challenges to tackle along the way.

As a result, it’s hands-on, inclusive and easy to get involved in. It’s also a fantastic choice for conferences, leadership programs, corporate celebrations and CSR events.

Best of all, your team finishes the experience knowing their efforts have helped make a genuine difference.

Fully Customised for Your Team

No two teams are the same, so we don’t believe their events should be either.

We customise every Build-A-Bike Challenge around your organisation. Whether you’re planning a conference breakout, leadership retreat or end-of-year celebration, we’ll make it work for your group.

We can tailor the timing, challenges, format and difficulty level. Plus, we can incorporate your company branding, values, trivia or conference messaging.

Through our partnership with 99 Bikes, we can also help coordinate the charity side of the experience. Alternatively, if your organisation already supports a charity, we can explore ways to include them.

The result? Corporate team building that gives back, while still delivering all the competition, laughs and energy you expect from Tailored Team Building.

Bike Building FAQs

Teams compete in a series of fun challenges to earn the parts and tools they need to build their bike. Along the way, they’ll need to communicate, problem-solve and work together before putting their mechanical skills to the test. Once the bikes are complete, they’re checked and prepared for donation to a local charity or community organisation.

Not at all! You definitely don’t need a team full of mechanics. We provide the equipment, instructions and guidance needed to complete the challenge. The focus is on teamwork, communication and having fun rather than knowing your way around a bike workshop.

Yes! The best part of the Build-A-Bike Challenge is that the experience can have a real impact beyond your event. The completed bikes can be donated to a suitable charity, community organisation or local cause, giving your team the chance to create something that will genuinely be used and appreciated.

Absolutely. If your organisation already supports a particular charity or community group, we can work with you to incorporate them into the event where possible. Alternatively, our team can help explore suitable options depending on your event location and requirements.

Yes. We can divide larger groups into smaller teams so everyone has a role to play. With challenges happening throughout the experience, there’s much more to do than simply assemble the bike, which helps keep the whole team involved.

What Your Team Gets From It

Build-A-Bike brings together team bonding, problem-solving, communication, and purpose in one seriously rewarding challenge.

As teams work through challenges and build their bikes, they need to communicate clearly, share ideas, solve problems, and make decisions together. Different strengths naturally come to the surface, while everyone has an important role to play.

However, what really sets this team building activity apart is the finish. Your team doesn’t just walk away with bragging rights. The completed bikes go on to support a local charity, giving everyone the satisfaction of knowing their teamwork has created something meaningful.

By the end of the event, your team leaves with stronger connections, a shared sense of achievement, and one pretty special story to take back to the office.
