Australian Defence Force Sydney Adventure Race – The Ultimate Team Building Challenge
We recently had the honour of designing one of our most thrilling and top-secret team building adventures yet, a high-stakes Sydney Adventure Race for the Australian Defence Force. It began in the surfy heart of Manly and ended high above the city at the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
From the very first moment, this wasn’t your typical Amazing Race-style team building event. Instead, it was a high-energy, multi-discipline challenge built to test teamwork, communication, and leadership under pressure. Every checkpoint came with surprises, keeping teams alert and engaged throughout the day.
The adventure kicked off with a kayak race through Manly’s crystal-clear waters, where teams had to paddle hard to find their first clue. Once they cracked it, strategy came into play. Teams had the freedom to choose their public transport route into Sydney’s CBD, adding a layer of clever decision-making and fun chaos to the race.
As the day unfolded, the excitement continued to build. Teams faced a variety of urban puzzles, physical challenges, and creative problem-solving tasks designed to test collaboration and quick thinking. Just when they thought they had seen it all, we threw in a JetBoat sprint across Sydney Harbour. It was fast, wild, and filled with laughter, the perfect burst of adrenaline before the grand finale.
The final checkpoint was revealed at the very top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Reaching the summit wasn’t just the end of the race, it was a moment of pride, teamwork, and breathtaking views. Only then did participants discover their final placements and celebrate an unforgettable finish.
