Mainfreight Multi-City Amazing Race: A National Team Building Showdown
When Mainfreight said they wanted to bring their teams together across Australia, we knew we had to go big. Not just Melbourne-big. Not just Sydney-big. But multi-city-big! And so, the Mainfreight Multi-City Amazing Race was born, four epic races, four cities (Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney), and one ultimate national champion.
The Race That United Cities
The goal was simple: unite Mainfreight teams who had never met before, get them laughing, competing, and bonding in true Aussie style. And did we deliver? Absolutely. Each city was buzzing with energy, cheeky banter, and a little healthy rivalry.
But here’s the twist, thanks to our live leaderboard, teams weren’t just battling it out locally. Every city was connected, meaning Sydney teams were watching Perth, Melbourne teams were keeping an eye on Brisbane, and everyone had their sights set on the national title. The pressure was on!
The Challenges
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Amazing Race without some quirky challenges to test teamwork, creativity, and a touch of balance. Mainfreight teams faced:
Pipelines – where communication was key, and patience ran thin (but in a fun way).
Marshmallow Towers – gravity’s toughest test and a sticky-fingered favourite.
Sumo Relay – possibly the funniest relay you’ll ever see (giant padded suits included).
Block Stack – steady hands versus nerves of steel.
Plus a few extra cheeky twists along the way, just to keep everyone on their toes!
The mix of games guaranteed that no one skill dominated. You needed brains, brawn, balance, and a sense of humour to get through.
Mainfreight Spirit Meets Tailored Team Building
The highlight for us was seeing Mainfreight’s culture shine through. From the very first challenge, the team spirit was electric. Mainfreight told us afterwards:
“Here at Mainfreight, we always strive to push our culture into everything we do, the team spirit, the family way. And your team fit into this so well, and facilitated the events in a true Mainfreight Way, that perhaps you didn’t realise you were even doing. Overall, this was an amazing experience, and we found that our two companies were quite aligned when it came to that culture.” – Dana
And honestly? That’s the best feedback we could have hoped for. Because at the end of the day, that’s what team building is all about, connection, laughter, and a culture that feels natural.
Looking Ahead
We’re already talking Survivor-style events for next year, and we can’t wait to see what we dream up together. If this year’s races are anything to go by, the next round will be even bigger, bolder, and cheekier.
